Are you a world's best kept secret?

I’ve worked with many coaches and leaders over the past 3-4 years and the common theme I hear from them is they believe their ability to help people and their big heart is a world best kept secret.

Which I 100% believe, there are so many coaches, leaders and individuals out there who have the skills and the heart to positively impact many people, but it always comes down to one issue...

Their voice.

They keep their voice hidden and they remain a secret in the world.

This was my case, for many years. I would complain to others, “don’t people realise how much I can help them”, “how good of a coach I am”, “how I can help lead others to success”, if only people knew.

This became a broken record, and I fell into playing a victim, and played the ‘if only’ game and hoping others will miraculously find me to validate me into finally speaking my voice.

Here’s where lies a big barrier to speaking our voice, is that for many of us we need external validation to give us permission to speak up.

We need to know that what we say will be well received, or received at all. Otherwise, the pain of rejection, judgement or silence, is far too great to experience.

Not speaking up is another way to avoid potential pain and feelings we aren’t good enough.

What if we could reframe it from what will others think of me to what will others learn from me?

Instead of anticipating what others may negatively think of us, let’s shift it to imagine how good it would be for one person to learn something new and inspire them into action.

The attention goes away from our ‘performance’ and to the message itself.

The more we deliver the message and focus on what others can learn from it, you will turn from ‘the world’s best kept secret’ to someone who actually helps people and is valuable.

Time to speak up and actually help.
