If you're still procrastinating on your goals, read this...
Have you tried all the procrastination tips & tricks, but nothing’s changed?
If you are a big procrastinator and you’ve tried all the tips such as putting your phone in another room, looked at a million different ways to prioritise, break things into small tasks, a more colourful to-do list, build a reward system, use of accountability patners etc...
It works for a week and then find yourself back into your old procrastination ways?
Then this suggests there is something deeper going on here, something unconsciously driving this...
What if we acknowledged we were actually afraid of the very thing we are working towards
Examples:
If I become more successful, it means I can no longer be lazy, and people will demand more of me, and they can no longer feel sorry for me or be 'nice'
If I become more visible and speak my voice, it means I am more open to judgement and criticism.
If I get into a higher position, it means I will have more responsibilities and less time for myself or to 'chill out'
If we unconsciously fear the outcome of who we will become by doing the tasks we need to do to progress, then of course we are going to procrastinate, because we will want to unconsciously delay all this change.
Some people delay this change for a lifetime!
How do you change this?
Simply look at what will be different in your life if you achieved your goal, and ask yourself what will change for you? How will people treat you differently?
e.g. More responsibility, attention and potential rejection, or less excuses, less time to relax and less sympathy from others.
Then ask yourself, can you handle that change?
If yes, the only thing keeping you from procrastinating is laziness or a lack of courage.
If no, then start to work on coming to terms with being able to handle those potential changes in the future when you achieve your goal. As you do, your confidence will grow and you will see procrastination is merely a protective mechanism keeping you comfortable.
There's always a price we must pay or pain we must endure in order to create success.
